Wellbeing with Sra. Karren

Wellbeing News – Term 2 Wrap-Up

As Term 2 draws to a close, we take a moment to reflect on what an incredible term it has been for wellbeing across the school. Our students have been exploring big ideas, building emotional resilience, and strengthening their social skills – and we couldn’t be prouder of their growth!

In Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2, students have been learning all about character strengths – identifying what makes them unique and wonderful. You may have seen Seesaw videos where your child proudly shared, “I am brave!” or “I am kind!” They’ve also been learning how to bounce back from tricky situations, developing early tools for resilience.

In Years 3 and 4, students have been engaging in thoughtful self-reflection, writing letters to Sra. Karren about personal challenges or things they’d like support with. They’ve also been learning how to navigate friendship wobbles with empathy and confidence. Some students even created brilliant character strength posters to celebrate their amazing qualities!

Our Year 5 and 6 students have taken a deeper dive into how influences and perspective shape the way we see the world and each other. They’ve been thinking critically about how perspectives can vary greatly when viewed through a cultural lens, and how this might differ from the way we think here in Australia. It’s given them a truly unique and global view of the world. They’ve also been exploring ways to handle friendship challenges with maturity and understanding.

Across the upper years, we’ve introduced some helpful steps for handling friendship fallouts, which you might like to chat about at home too:

  • Take space if you need it
  • Don’t be mean or seek revenge
  • Avoid bringing in the whole universe – not everyone needs to be involved!
  • Ditch the ego – say sorry or simply ask, “Can we talk?”
  • And if things aren’t working out, it might be time to say goodbye after reflecting with these questions: Am I having fun? Can I be myself? Is this friendship still worth it?

Across all year levels, we continue to champion our key messages:

  • “Through mistakes, we learn”
  • “The power of yet

These simple but powerful ideas are helping students develop a growth mindset and a stronger sense of confidence when facing life’s little challenges.

Thank you for your continued support this term – we can’t wait to see what Term 3 brings!
