Grade 3/4

Literacy

During Literacy we have been working hard on our "Life on the Goldfields" letter to families. The students were extremely proud to write using a pen. They were excited to make the paper look like it was from the Gold rush by dipping it in coffee and scrunching it.

Numeracy

During Numeracy, we have developed our knowledge of subtraction strategies. We can use number lines, the split and jump strategy and solve problems using an algorithm.

Inquiry - Gold Rush

Monday 30/6 - School showcase - Students will be sharing their knowledge from Inquiry sessions and information they have learned about the Gold rush.

School Values Certificates/Whole School Assembly

This week there will be no values certificates awarded as we have our Books in Homes assembly starting at 2:15 sharp.

School start

School begins at 8:35am sharp. Students will begin their learning by participating in the Morning Circle. If you child is late to school, please make sure they attend the front office to have their attendance recorded as late.

Homework/Home Reading

Homework has resumed for term 2. It will be given out weekly on Mondays and come back to school on Fridays. Homework includes 1 sheet for 4 activities that support in class learning from the week, and either 1x thick chapter book, 2x shorter chapter books or 3x levelled books.

Tutoring Learning Program  - Homework

Students in the Tutoring Learning Initiative (TLI) program with Ms Pino will receive homework on Fridays to be returned on Thursday of the next week. Homework will include the book that we have read and a task or activity that supports the learning. The students also have a reading log to record when they have read the books by themselves and to a parent or older sibling.
