Main Campus - Year 4

Term 2 is over! We cannot believe how fast this year is flying by! Thank you to all those families who have come in for Parent Teacher Interviews this week. We have loved celebrating your children with you. 

 

This past week students have finished their second biome project and shared it with other students. 4AD shared with the Grade 3 students yesterday and 4SM shared their biome posters with the Prep students. We were so proud of the work students put into their projects and we can’t wait to share them with you! 

 

In Maths we have been completing data investigations and revising mental and written subtraction strategies. 

 

Getting to look after and cuddle the animals is such a big part of the Carlsruhe experience. Thank you to all those families who have called by over the weekend to check on the animals, clean out cages and feed the animals. A huge thank you to all those families who have offered to come in over the school holidays. Recently, we moved Peanut and Uggy to their second paddock, it was lots of fun! 

Are you wondering what your child can do over the holidays to help with their learning? Here are some fun ways to your brain active over the break! 

 

Reading

  • Read for at least 15 minutes most days. 

    • Chapter books

    • Comics

    • Magazines

    • Non-Fiction books

    • Audiobooks

  • Draw a comic strip.

  • Write a short book review of a book you have read. 

Spelling & Writing

  • Keep a Holiday Journal - Write a few sentences or a page each day about what you do, what you saw, or how you felt. 

  • Practise spelling words you always have trouble remembering!

Maths

  • Timestables.com

  • Cool Maths Game

  • Help with real-life maths at home

    • Measure ingredients for cooking

    • Calculate shopping totals or change

    • Read timetables or schedules

  • Keep a Holiday Budget: If you get pocket money, track your spending and savings

  • Sudoku, crosswords or logic puzzles

  • Learn something new

  • Play card and board games

  • Build something creative with recycled materials
