Foundation
Foundation students continued developing their soccer skills with a focus on dribbling and teamwork.
They practised moving the ball while keeping it close to their feet, before combining dribbling with controlled passes to teammates. Students rotated through 4 different station activities and continued to focus on taking turns, sharing and being patient.
Year 1
Year 1 students continued to refine their chest passing and dribbling skills in basketball. With growing confidence, they worked on maintaining control while dribbling through cones and moving into space. Students put their chest passing skills into group activities, focusing on moving into space, working as a team and using a chest pass with accuracy.
Year 2Year 2 students continued working on their overarm throwing skills by applying them in different target games. They practised aiming for accuracy and distance before using their throwing skills in competitive activities such as partner challenges and group games. These activities helped students refine their technique while learning how to throw effectively under pressure.
Year 3
Year 3 students developed their Australian Rules Football skills further by focusing on kicking. They practised kicking for accuracy to both stationary and moving partners, paying attention to foot placement and follow-through. Students then applied these skills in small-sided games that required them to combine handballing and marking during a team handball game and practised their kicking accuracy when aiming to hit the basketball backboard.
Year 4
Year 4 students built on their understanding of soccer by applying tactics and strategies in modified gameplay. They worked on transitioning between attack and defence, finding space, and moving the ball quickly under pressure. Students demonstrated their skills in small-sided games that highlighted communication, positioning, and teamwork with a focus on offensive and defensive strategies.
Year 5Year 5 students finished their Hot Shots Tennis unit with a focus on playing a game like they would if we participated against another school. They practised sustaining forehand and backhand rallies with a partner, aiming to keep the ball in play for longer periods and rotated around to ensure they were versing different opponents.
Year 6
Year 6 students extended their basketball learning by playing a game of king of the court. We split the class into 3-4 even teams depending on class sizes. If a team scored a basket, they started with the ball and a new team came on to focus on defensive play. If a team won 4 in a row they were required to rotate so a new team could participate. Students applied both offensive and defensive strategies in our competitive gameplay, which required them to read the play and make quick decisions.
District Athletics Day
On Wednesday 20th August, students proudly represented the school at District Athletics Day. It was a fantastic day filled with determination, sportsmanship, and encouragement as students competed across a range of track and field events. A special congratulations goes to our event winners, who are pictured below, for their outstanding achievements and effort on the day. We are very proud of all students for the way they supported one another and demonstrated persistence throughout the competition.
Pictured here are our District Athletics champions – we are so proud of their hard work and success.
