Do you collect anything?

I have a lot of books—like, a lot of books—which makes sense, as the 'token literature teacher' of the school. I don't just collect them to have them; I believe all books should be read, and I often lend them out to my friends.

Do you play a musical instrument? If so, which one?

I can play the guitar, but not very well. I feel like my fingers aren’t very strong, though I’ve learned a few chords. I used to play the piano, but not anymore, which is one of my biggest regrets in life. Two pieces of advice I would give to myself would be to not give up on piano and to keep learning a language.

How long have you worked at BSC?

This is my third year, and my first proper school, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. That said, I think it’s pretty great.

If you could choose to be anything for a day, what would it be?

I would want to be the little statue on the corner of Donald Trump’s desk so I could hear everything he says, or the crochet needle of Ms Eales so we could hang out outside of school.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would say oysters, but that might be a little hectic. I’m from the top of Tassie, and one of the most famous things you can buy there is scallop pies. There’s a shop in the Concourse that does a really good one, and I could definitely do a pie a day. I feel like it would be the one thing I’d always want.

If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?

I've always thought I'd really like to go to Egypt, but I don’t want to go until my late thirties, so I can wear long, flowing outfits and have a photoshoot in the desert. I’d get to have my Cleopatra moment

If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?

I would love the power to stop someone from feeling pain—wouldn’t that be just amazing? But there would have to be limits too. I want to save the world, so maybe I’d have the ability to make food appear and feed the entire world. But then I’d be uprooted from this life, so I’m not sure. Ultimately, I just want to be able to turn into a fairy anytime, ride on my cat’s back, wave my wand in her nose, and make her sneeze. It would be so cute and magical!

What animal would you like to be for a day?

I would say a cat, but I want to be something that can do something cool. Maybe a cute little honeysuckle bird—just living its life, flying around and sleeping in the flowers.

What book/TV series/podcasts are you into at the moment?

I’m always into Sylvia Plath—she’s my favourite author. I’ve been on and off reading this collection of her short stories called Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams.

I’ve also just gotten into a show that came back onto Stan called Offspring (with Eddie Perfect!). It’s a great Australian show. I do listen to one podcast called Good Hang with Amy Poehler (the comedian).

What is it you hope to be able to say about your years of teaching when you’ve retired?

I hope I can say I made a positive difference.

What was your favourite subject at school?

My favourite subject was literature because I had the best teacher, and we got to read all day! Name a more perfect class.

What would you sing at karaoke night?

Great question! My karaoke songs are Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison or Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac—especially if my scorned ex-love (who may or may not exist) was there.

Who would you like to swap places with for the day?

I’d love to swap places with someone from my best friend's work so I could see her and hang out with her all day.

Thanks, Ms Green!
