Principal's Message
Art Show
The 40th Mount View Art Show opens next Thursday night and I want to thank our visual arts teachers, Angela Pulbrook and Tina Downard for all that they are doing to ensure that this is a successful community event. I am also grateful to our staff and parent volunteers for their contribution- we wouldn't be able to do it without you. I hope to see you at the Art Show - come along to celebrate creativity and immerse yourself in a broad range of art.
Tiny Forest
On Tuesday The Green Team, SRC and other invited students planted the Tiny Forest at the Fraser Street Reserve in Glen Waverley. This was a collaboration
between Earthwatch and the Monash City Council, in partnership with Bupa.. The Fraser Street Tiny Forest is planted with species from the threatened ecological vegetation
community that will provide habitat for biodiversity, reduce urban heat island effect and help to mitigate the effects of climate change. A special thank-you to Kath Burman, Casey Skyes and Rachel Judd for making this possible for our students.
Education Week Open Morning
Thank you for joining your children in their STEM activities as part of our Open Morning on Tuesday. The school was full of excitement as students and families engaged in a range of hands-on activities. These are valuable opportunities to connect with the learning that takes place in our classrooms and we love seeing parents, carers and grandparents in the school.
Communication
We are committed to working in partnership with you and value open communication with our parents and carers. Our classroom teachers know your children best and are usually the best person to contact with any questions or concerns. Our teachers are teaching during the day and have many responsibilities before and after school so we aim to respond to your emails within 48 hours- this might be via email, a phone call or a quick catch up. You can always speak to our admin team in the office if you are unsure of the best person to contact, we are here to help you and your family.
Parent Association
Thank you to those families who attended the Parent Association meetings last Friday morning and Tuesday evening. These were valuable conversations to explore the role of the Parent Association in bringing our community together. We talked about opportunities for social activities, fundraising events, school information sessions and more. I will present a summary of these ideas at an online meeting in the coming weeks so that we can identify priorities and our next steps. Further information will be shared with you via Compass.
Pedestrian Safety
Your child’s safety is our priority so please use the crossing in Shepherd Croad and ensure that you are following the road rules when driving your children to school. Monash Council are active in our area and you will be fined if you are doing the wrong thing, but most importantly, we do not want anyone getting hurt. Please do the right thing for the safety of our students and community.
