Last week was a big build-up to Open Day where students were able to show parents, grandparents and siblings what they get up to here at the Harvey Ag College.

From our perspective it was a sensational day with a lot of involvement from students and staff across residence and further abroad as residential staff drove all five buses for the day. I know when I was driving the students who were sharing information about the College did a very professional job.

We had some students involved in cooking sausages and selling cool drinks on the day, they also helped show off some of the Residential activities with a photo board of some of the afterhours opportunities undertaken so far this year.

Weekend Activities

Unfortunately, we had organised an intra dorm talent quest for Friday night, however due to lack of support from the students we had to abandon the plans. This is a shame as it would have been loads of fun.

On Saturday students were very helpful in the morning in stacking the tables and chairs in preparation for the day, as well as setting out the table, chairs and umbrellas on the lawn for the patrons to enjoy.  After Open Day closed, I must commend everyone involved who worked closely as a team to put the dining room tables and chairs back together.

What happened this week

It's been another busy after hours in Residence with hockey in Collie, football, basketball, netball and volleyball games and training.

Wednesday evening, we had guests from Youth Focus come to talk with our female students around conversations around mental health, what to look for, how we can assist and where we can seek some help from. Next week they will return to speak with the male students around the same topic. These are all wonderful opportunities to educate our young people around these topics.

Short Weeks

This week and next week are only four-days, so it is a little more important time wise with our leave application processes. I thank everyone for their efforts this week and I ask for their assistance once again next week in getting the leave process in on time.

I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful long weekend, stay safe and we will see you all back refreshed next week Monday 3rd June after 3pm.
