Year 1 Spotlight
Learning About Our Bodies!
In Inquiry, we have been learning about our bodies. Our big question is, ‘What does my body need to be healthy and safe?’
We have been going on a learning journey through our different body parts. We have investigated how to keep our bodies healthy by staying active, how to keep our brains healthy and well and how to have a healthy diet.
We explored this through an incursion from ‘Drama Toolbox’. The students dressed up as either brain neurons, red and white blood cells, oxygen and gastric juices, and followed their journey through the body.
Here are some photos and quotes about the day:
- It was fun dressing up as a red blood cell. ~ Pip
- I loved it because I was a white blood cell and I got to fight the germs. ~ Daisy
- I dressed up as a red blood cell which takes oxygen around the body. ~ Quinn
- We all went in the nose, around the body and out the butt. ~ Devon
To explore moving our bodies, we participated in an excursion at Go Climb. We used both our bodies and our minds, to move through the obstacle course, climb the highest rock climbing wall and try to putt a hole in one, in mini-golf. We had a fantastic day and all the students loved it.
Here are some photos and quotes of our day below:
- I liked rock climbing because I could time myself. ~ Julius
- I loved mini golf because at the 18th hole the ball went up and down and disappeared. ~ Harry and Henry
- It was the best day ever! ~ 1C and 1D
