Prep and Year 1 News

Hello - Wominjeka,

Our Prep and Year 1 students have been busy investigating this term. The purpose has been to increase engagement and make strong connections to learning and strengthen the pathway and transition from kindergarten to primary school.

Each day our students…

  • consolidate the learning focuses that are planned each week from Literacy, Numeracy and Inquiry through exploration and play
  • Have authentic opportunities to learn personal and social skills, conflict resolution, problem solving, decision making and develop their independence while all linked to all areas of the curriculum.
  • Are able to engage and experience incredible resources in our amazing and vibrant learning environment

This term we had the leaders from the Early Years team at the Whittlesea council come to visit all the amazing work that EVPS has been doing to incorporate investigations within our unique program. A big focus was to observe the strong link from our Epping Views Kindergarten to our primary school.

It was pleasing to see the inspiration that we were able to offer our visitors, and being able to share aspects that they could take with them to complement our community programs and support services.

Having links and strong partnerships with our council, assists to build a strong community which provides a supportive and inclusive environment that helps our children grow their social emotional skills and feel a sense of belonging. It also strengthens access to resources, experiences, and opportunities that improve the quality of care.
