Junior School News

Literacy

This week the junior students have been reading a book called "The Kings Cat". Students have enjoyed reading and discussing this book. Students have practiced their comprehension skills such as predicting and making connections with the text during whole class shared reading. Students have also been looking at rhyming words with different words from the book such as cat and king. This is something you could practice with students at home.

Numeracy

this week students have done a number of activities in Math's, one of which was based around the book from Dr. Seuss "Ten Apples Up on Top". Some students focused on matching the number of apples with the numeral while others went further and practiced adding how many apples all of the animals had on their head altogether.

Art

In the spirit of Reconciliation week the students completed some artwork of the Dramtime story "Tidalick to Frog" with Mrs. Bannan. Using a mix of oil pastels and watercolor paints, they vividly depicted Tidalick's journey and the lesson of sharing from the story. Each artwork is a beautiful blend of creativity, cultural appreciation, and environmental awareness.

Outdoor Classroom

Our Art flowed into our Outdoor Classroom the following day, students collected leaves and did leaf rubbings to add to their artwork.

Due to the rain we also did some cooking during our outdoor classroom program. The students loved making and eating scones.
