Be Aware of Mushrooms

Alicia Flynn

It's FUNGI season and we have noticed a lot of interesting mushrooms around the school, some of them poisonous. Please remind your children to leave mushrooms alone and never touch them. If your child does touch them, please get them to wash their hands very well. If they eat them, please call 000. We found a very interesting stinkhorn octopus mushroom growing just under the mulch in a garden bed yesterday (see image below of what they can look like). Fungi are usually wonderful collaborators in the garden and Yakai Barring so we want to let them keep doing what they do and just leave them alone.

Thanks!
