Year 9 have just completed a unit of work on Trigonometry where they determined unknown sides and angles in right-angled triangles to solve related two-dimensional and three-dimensional real-world problems.
Trigonometry played a key role in the development of measurement in astronomy and land surveying. It is used in a broad range of areas, including astronomy, navigation (on ships, on aircraft and in space), the analysis of financial markets, electronics, statistics, biology, medicine, chemistry, meteorology, many physical sciences, architecture, economics, and different branches of engineering.
Term 2 Mathematics Assessment Tasks
Week 4 – Year 10 (Tuesday 20/5)
Week 5 – Year 8 (Monday 26/5)
Week 6 – Year 9 (Monday 2/6) and Year 7 (Friday 6/6)
Don’t forget that calculators are a requirement for Mathematics, and students are expected to have them for their Assessment tasks – they can be purchased at the Front Office for $35.
