Welcome to term 2!

This term, Correa and Hakea will have a focus on promoting compassion, care and kindness towards the natural environment, our classroom and the wider community.

The children will explore a connection to land and country through indigenous perspectives and play-based learning. We will encourage the children to build their relationship with nature, gaining an understanding of their impact on the environment.

We will provide opportunities for learning about how to give back to the community, including simple acts of care for our classroom and homes, and engaging in sustainability practices. These experiences will support the children in developing a deeper respect for living things and places. This connects with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) – Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world.

Looking ahead, children will have further opportunities to participate in caring for our garden, planting vegetables, harvesting and cooking our crops, learn about recycling and support community initiatives. This will continue to foster agency and encourage them to become active participants in caring for Country and community.

Caring for our world certificates

This term, the children will have the opportunity to earn an award which demonstrates their care towards the world around them. This could be from picking up rubbish outside, watering our vegetable patches, helping their friends and community, taking care of our classroom and more.

What a fun term ahead!
