Habemus Papam!
Pope Leo XIV.
The first American-born pontiff stepped into his role as the 267th pope on the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica, addressing thousands of cheering Catholics with the words: “Peace be with you all.”
Term 2 will provide 3/4 students the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
All our students at St Monica's will be studying various aspects of the Sacramental journey during Term 2.
Grade 3/4 students are offered the opportunity to receive this Sacrament by completing a four-week course on a Thursday afternoon here at school. Aspects of the lessons will include topics like responsible decision-making, exploring how we act and follow up on the ten commandments, asking for help from parents, teachers and priests and spending some time in prayer. These lessons will prepare students who wish to be a candidate to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
At the heart of Reconciliation is the constant truth of God’s gracious and constant love for us, forgiving and restoring us even before we know our need of forgiveness.
If you would like your child to be a candidate for the sacrament of Reconciliation, please send an email to myself, Anthony Chalkley at achalkley@smkangarooflat.catholic.edu.au
The Reconciliation journey begins by gathering with Father Jackson in the St. Monica’s School library for the Formation evening and Session 1 of the program on Thursday 5 June at 6pm – 7pm.
The students will receive the sacrament of Reconciliation at St. Monica’s Church on Thursday, 3 July and it will be celebrated by Father Brian.
The sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist will be celebrated later in the year. Dates yet to be confirmed. Students need to have made their sacrament of Reconciliation before they can receive the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
