Deputy Principals' Report

Dear Families,
We hope you’ve enjoyed a wonderful third week of school! It’s been a busy one, as our students have been hard at work preparing to spoil the mums and special women in their lives this weekend.
We wish all mothers and special women a beautiful Sunday—may you feel celebrated, cherished, and surrounded by love. Thank you for your ongoing support and for entrusting us with your children’s education and growth.
Please mark your diaries for next Friday 16th May for our annual Walk Safely to School Day. There will be 3 meeting points set up, please see the page further on in the newsletter for all details.
Warm Regards,
Deputy Principals: Joelle Diakrousis and Anthony Speranza
City of Kingston Junior Mayor elections
Congratulations to Olivia, Vince, Maddie and Sam who represented our school proudly at this year’s City of Kingston Junior Mayor elections, held today at Kingston Town Hall. Schools in the council were invited to bring a team of students to respond to the question “What does an inclusive community look like to you?”. Our students delivered a very polished presentation that was both informative and compelling.
Students attending from all of the various schools in the Junior Mayor election had the opportunity to listen to all presentations, and then vote for their favourite.
Our students will be repeating their presentation at the assembly tomorrow.
We are thrilled to let you know that our head speaker Olivia has been elected onto the Junior Council for Kingston for 2025, representing the Como ward!
Olivia will have the opportunity to work with the Rotary club and Kingston Youth Services to further learn about leadership and governance structures in council.
St Patrick’s is a Nut-Safe School
At St Patrick’s, the health and safety of our students is our top priority. We are a nut-safe school, which means we ask all families to avoid sending any food items that contain nuts or nut products.
This is to protect students in our care who have anaphyalxis or severe allergies, which can be life-threatening. Even trace amounts of nuts can cause serious reactions.
Please do not send the following items to school:
- Peanut butter or Nutella sandwiches
- Muesli bars or snack bars containing nuts
- Cakes, biscuits, or slices with nuts
- Trail mix or any snack packs containing nuts
- Satay or nut-based sauces in lunches
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our school environment safe for all students.
If you have any questions or concerns about food safety or lunchbox options, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
No Dogs on School Grounds
We kindly remind all families that dogs are not permitted on the school property at any time.
While we understand that many children love seeing pets at drop-off and pick-up, for the safety and comfort of all students, staff, and families, we ask that all dogs remain outside the school gates. This includes even the most well-behaved and friendly pets.
If you do bring your dog with you during school drop-off or pick-up times, please ensure they are kept on a lead and remain outside the school boundary.
Chess Tutiton
Registrations are open for the Term 2 Chess Club, which takes place on Wednesdays at recess. A minimum number of students are required for the club to take place, so if you are thinking of participating or continuing from last term please see the information below or website chessforschools.com.au to register.
Exciting news, band club commencing for Year 3 to Year 6 on Thursdays.
Band Club is starting next week on Thursday at Lunch Play in the O’Hanlon Centre. It will run for the first 30 minutes of playtime, leaving a little extra time at the end for a quick run
around the playground.
Students in Years 3-6 who learn a musical instrument are welcome to join. This means you have music lessons after school at St Patrick’s or with an outside music teacher. Or perhaps you
have had music lessons in the past and are pretty good at playing and practising your instrument.
ALL musicians are welcome - beginners, advanced and everyone in between - as long as you are confident to play a few notes or chords on your instrument and are committed to attending our lunch time rehearsals and will practice at home.
If you are interested, please meet Mrs Williams in the O’Hanlon Centre at Lunch on Thursday.
Random Acts of Kindness
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the following students for their outstanding display of kindness and compassion towards others. Your willingness to support, encourage, and uplift those around you has set a wonderful example for our entire school community. It’s incredibly inspiring to see students across different year levels go out of their way to make others feel valued, included, and respected.
Your acts of kindness—whether through small gestures or significant efforts—are powerful reminders of the positive impact we can all have. Thank you for embodying the values that make our school a welcoming and caring place for everyone. Keep up the amazing work!
