Teacher Qualifications

Good Shepherd Lutheran school has a teaching staff of 38 FTE. In addition, the Leadership Team is made up of the Principal, Business Director, Deputy Principal (JP), Deputy Principal (SP), Teaching & Learning Leader, Director Curiosity ELC and Director OSHC.

 

All teachers at Good Shepherd Lutheran School satisfy the requirements of the Teachers Registration Board for registration. A list of qualifications and the number of teachers holding these qualifications in the school are listed below. As some staff hold more than one qualification, the number of qualifications will be greater than the number of staff.

 

Diploma: 19

Bachelor degree: 22

Post Graduate Diploma/certificate: 9

Masters: 7

 

During 2024, 5 staff members completed the Lutheran Education Australia Staff Accreditation to teach Christian Studies program (EQUIP).  With three staff members participating in the Leadership Development programme through Lutheran Education Australia Leadership pathway.

 

Many members of our administration and support staff also hold qualifications that support the learning community.

Lutheran Support Officers – Curriculum

Good Shepherd Lutheran School invests more than 270 hours a week directly into classroom support via Lutheran Support Officers who contribute to the academic program in the classroom directly, while 50 hours per week is assigned to the important role of school chaplains.

Workforce Composition

In addition to curriculum LSOs, there are 13 non-teaching staff involved in administration and maintenance. 

We do not currently employ any Indigenous staff members.

Ongoing Professional Learning Opportunities

Teacher Professional Growth and Develpment is ongoing in nature.  The following are an example of the different foci in 2024.

  • Direct Instruction in Literacy using LTR (Listen Think Respond curriculum) was further imbedded across the school.
  • UR Strong - Empowering kids with friendship skills.

Additionally, all staff across the site were involved in maintaining their First Aid and Fire Extinguisher training.

Supporting growth in Pre-Service Tertiary Students 

The Teaching & Learning Leader oversees the support and growth of TAFE students and University Pre-Service Teaching placement students. We see the value of supporting the growth and development of professionals in our broader workforce.
