From the Acting Assistant Principal 10-12

Dear Students, Parents & Carers,

As we progress through the academic year, I am delighted to share some updates and reflections on recent and forthcoming events at our school.

The commencement of semester exams has set a focused and diligent tone among our students. I am proud to observe their exemplary behaviour and dedication to their studies. Our study spaces (including the new spaces in our West Wing) have been well-utilised, reflecting the commitment of our students to their academic success. This period of examinations is not just a test of knowledge but a testament to the hard work, grit and aspiration demonstrated by our students throughout the semester.

Our Year 10 students have an exciting opportunity coming up with the Swinburne University Experience Excursion. This excursion will provide them with a glimpse into university life and the various pathways available to them after high school. It is an invaluable experience that we hope will inspire and motivate them as they begin to consider their post-secondary options.

For our Year 11 and Year 12 students, the upcoming General Achievement Test (GAT) on June 18 marks a significant milestone. For many Year 11 students, this will be their first experience of the GAT, while our Year 12 students will once again demonstrate their readiness and resilience. The GAT is an important part of their academic journey, and we are confident in their ability to perform to the best of their abilities.

As we look ahead, the start of Semester 2 in Week 10 brings with it a sense of a fresh start and anticipation. We will be concluding our current subjects and setting our sights on VCE Units 2 and 4, as well as IB semester 2.

Looking further ahead, Week 11 will see the release of subject recommendation letters for 2025. This marks the beginning of our course counselling process, a crucial step in planning for the next academic year. I encourage students and parents to engage actively in this process, considering carefully the subjects and pathways that will best support their future goals. The 2025 Curriculum Handbook will soon be released to support this process via Compass.
