Volunteering @ School
St Mel's Primary School has a proud, strong and extremely well known history of community involvement, family support and volunteering.
The further we move away from the 'Covid Years' the more we are seeing parents, carers and community members resuming their wonderful support of the school, our community and especially our children.
We are MORE together!
We welcome interest from the members of our school community in volunteering in and around our school and have recently reviewed our documentation, procedures and practices in support of volunteers.
The Victorian Child Safe Standards introduced in 2017 and renewed in 2022 clearly define requirements for engaging volunteers in schools in the interests of keeping our children safe from harm.
We welcome your applications to volunteer in support of our school community and encourage those wishing to support the school in this way to collect a Volunteer Pack from our Administration Office, complete the documentation and return it to school (along with your Working With Children's Check) asap.
There are many ways to volunteer @ St Mel's including:
- Coaching soccer, netball or other teams
- Team Manager roles
- Hearing reading in class
- Supporting with literacy and/or numeracy activities
- Cooking BBQs
- Assisting in our Library or Admin
- Catering for school events
- Assisting on excursions
- Helping in the School Garden
- Assisting with school events
