Last Weekend Activities
Friday evening was the usual activity with dinner and then the trip to Eaton Fair Shopping Centre.
Saturday was a planned trip to Perth to visit the Zoo, this was a great day with the weather on our side and everyone attending had a great day. Saturday evening was a BBQ dinner followed by an entertaining evening around the fire pit chatting and listening to music.
Sunday saw a quick trip into Treendale for those wanting to get off site, then we had the students start to return from the weekend.
Weekly Activities
Monday evening saw lots of training for Country Week, some bus washing duties and then students received instruction on how to sew on buttons and repair small tears in Farm uniforms. This was run by Mel, which was well supported with students willing to learn, which is great.
Sport, sport and sport. Tuesday, netball and football in town and training continued for Country Week. Wednesday, there was volleyball in town which displayed some rivalry and skills during the game.
Youth Focus - https://youthfocus.com.au
Last week we had Youth Focus come and speak with our students about mental health, how to spot the signs, assisting each other and some strategies to get the right help to look after each other and themselves.
We had this over two nights with the girls the first week and the boys the second week. It was reported to me that the students were engaged throughout the evening and appeared to get lots out of the presentation and taking a message away with them.
Personal Hygiene
It is the time of the year when there are a lot of bugs going around, so we ask students to please be extra vigilant with covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands thoroughly to help prevent the spreading of illness throughout residential.
REACH Leave
Next week we will need students to submit several leaves to cover all the transport arrangement for weekend leave, Country Week and end of term.
I spoke with the students yesterday reminding them of the requirements for the week. In some cases it may involve three different types of leave applications which will be required to be approved by parents. Thank you in anticipation of your co-operation.
Farewell to Don
We said farewell to Don Bamunuge who has been working in the kitchen for the past 2 years. Don has moved to Perth and we wish him all the best.
