Dear Parents and Friends,
We are almost at the end of a long and busy Term 2. No doubt many of our students (and staff) are tired and ready for a break. Please note that tomorrow is the last day of the school term. Classes finish at 1pm. After School Care will be available from this time. Please contact Camp Australia if you require this service. I hope all families can take some time out to rest and spend time with each other.
A reminder to parents, please do not send your child to school if they are coughing or unwell.
If your child is coughing whilst at school, they will be given a mask to wear. If the cough is continuing, we will contact you to collect them.
There is so much winter illness going through the school at the moment, this is our best defence against spreading illness.
Last Friday the SRC were presented with their badges at the school assembly. These students were elected by their classmates to represent them at SRC meetings.
Tony Lin, Zino Park, Michelle Lim, Annie Liao, Mikkel Mafole, David Ko, Asher Quach, Sophie Desperles, Florence Hong, Anna Forgeard, Lincoln Archibald, Maria Angelica Valencia Andrade (absent).
Last Friday students were able to wear their pyjamas to school for the fundraiser: Flames of Love Orphanage in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Visit: https://soworldwide.org/flames-of-love-dr-congo/
The students raised over three hundred dollars which will assist the orphanage to feed and educate children. Well done to our Year 6 Social Justice Team.
Starting in Week 2 of Term 3, all children will be participating in the School Swimming Program being held at Monash Aquatic Centre in Glen Waverley which will go through until the last week of Term 3.
Please go to your PAM and give permission for your child/ren to attend if you have not done so already.
Children will need to bring a small backpack with bathers, towel and goggles in addition to their school bag. We suggest that students who are not in a one piece costume should wear bathers to school under their sports uniform.
If you would like to be a parent helper at the swimming, please make sure that the office has a copy of your WWCC and signed Child Safety Paperwork. Parent helpers must meet us at the pool. Please email office@scsyndal.catholic.edu.au if you are able to help.
Parents may come and watch from the stands, but unless you are registered to help, you cannot enter the swimming change rooms, even if it is to help your child. You also cannot take your child to the public changerooms as we need to account for all of the children all of the time whilst at the centre.
Children will return to school after the swimming lessons as there will be further classtime.
Tomorrow all students will take part in a Mini Olympics program. This will run for most of the day. Students are permitted to wear their sport uniform. As this event will take most of the day, there will not be an assembly tomorrow.
We are sad to be farewelling Melvin tomorrow. Melvin has been a wonderful support to our teachers and the children throughout the last 12 months. He is now focussing on his study in Paediatric Nursing. We wish him all the best for the futre. We will miss you Melvin!
A reminder to parents of children in Year 5 - If you are intending on sending your child to a Catholic Secondary School for Year 7, 2026 - final day for applications is 16th August, 2024.
Please visit the website of the school of your choice and make time to visit the school.
For those children going to a Government Secondary School, applications will be sent home with the children next year - Year 6.
If you have any queries regarding the transition process for any school, please contact Tracey in the Office.
New Senior Playground
Our new senior playground has been ordered and is due to be installed at the start of Term 4. This will come around quickly and further details will be shared next Term.
Take care and enjoy the break!
