Technology

The technology unit has just come to an end for all year levels. For the year 3-6's this involved 10 weeks of rotations where they had the opportunity to explore a range of block coding programs, including Minecraft Education, Sphero, Hopscotch and WeDo LEGO. Each of these programs presented different challenges but all had the aim to increase the student's confidence when tasked with block coding.

The F-2's also started to learn about block coding using the WeDo LEGO and other Apps such as Scratch Jnr and Sphero Indi. It was great to see the student's excitement and creativity when working with these programs.

Media Studies

We are now moving into our media studies unit, with our focus this year on Stop Motion. There are some awesome mini movies being produced and it has been fantastic to see the students following this year's Stop Motion mantra - the smaller the movement the smoother it looks.

Design and Technologies

Our year will conclude with a construction task throughout the school. The topic this year is going to be cars. All students will be asked to make a car (or some sort of vehicle that moves) using the resources that are available. Last year it was exciting building and testing the rockets and I'm just as excited about building and testing out the car designs that are going to be created.
