Green Group – Learning About Tadpoles

Over the past fortnight, Green Group have shown great delight and curiosity as we’ve explored our new classroom addition — tadpoles!

The children have listened to stories, watched videos about the frog life cycle, and spent time closely observing our tadpoles. They enjoyed watching the tadpoles hide among the weeds and shared their detailed observations:

  • “They shake their tails when they swim.”Tille
  • “Grass is their favourite food.”Nic
  • “Their head is big.”Bruce
  • “They have a little tail.”Lincoln
  • “They are black.”Xave
  • “It is big!”Benji
  • “I see a big head!”Hudson P.

By week three, the children were thrilled to discover that one of our tadpoles had transformed into a froglet, growing four legs! Their curiosity deepened as they studied the froglet up close and shared new insights and wonderings:

  • “He has a long tail.”Xave
  • “The tadpole turned into a froglet. It has four legs.”Lincoln
  • “Froglets can go on land.”Hudson
  • “Froglets can climb and escape. We need a strong lid with gaps to breathe.”Sebastian
  • “They swim.”Roy
  • “They camouflage and hide so animals can’t see them.”Alijah

We are looking forward to continuing our learning journey, observing the tadpoles as they grow and change over the coming weeks.
