“October is Motorcycle Awareness Month, an initiative of the Motorcycle Council of NSW, encouraging driver awareness of motorcycles and safe motorcycle riding.

Motorcycle riders are overrepresented in NSW road trauma, with on average 60 motorcycle riders killed and 1,088 seriously injured each year.

Often this is at no fault of the rider.

Whether you are a driver or rider we all have a responsibility to keep each other safe on our roads!

Throughout October, various events and awareness campaigns will aim to educate motorists on how to safely share the road with motorcyclists.

To encourage drivers to look out for motorcycle riders on our roads from Monday 20th until Sunday 26th October Jo and Joe Rider will be out wearing pink vests.

We want you to look out for Jo and Joe, and report your sitings via the link below!

There will be a daily winners drawn from those who report a Jo or Joe sighting to win a breakdown safety kit.

The School that reports the most Joe Rider sitings will also win a road safety resources prize!

Share this with your friends – lets have our whole community looking out for our Riders to help keep them safe!”

We also have a Free rider safety Course running this Sunday at Council Chambers from 10am – 12:30pm, with lunch provided.
