GRADE 6 CAMP

Day 1: On Wednesday 15th of October, the Year 6s went to Ferngully Lodge for Camp. We all arrived at school early full of excitement, for the almost 3-hour bus ride. Time slowly past on the bus but eventually we arrived at Healesville. We were greeted by Jason, the owner of the camp and got told all the rules we had to follow. We settled into our cabins and got ready for the activities. After splitting into our four activity groups, we headed to where they were taking place. The activities were Leap of Faith and High ropes, Low ropes and Traverse wall, Bush shelters, and lastly Commando course. For dinner we had chicken schnitzel which was delicious. For tonight’s activity we did a Trivia, which was held by Jason. We all participated in one of the competitions and it seemed like we all had a blast.
Day 2: Today was the second day at Camp, and we were exhausted from the night before. For breakfast there was a wide range of choices of toast, cereal, bacon, and eggs. Then we got ready for the big day ahead. Today’s activities were the Giant swing, Flying fox, Archery, and Initiatives. Many students loved the giant swing and were saying it was their favourite activity. And most of us went into the pool as well since the temperature was boiling hot. For lunch we had burgers that we could choose the toppings for which was really good. And lastly for dinner we had spaghetti bolognese with a side of garlic bread and salad. Dessert was an ice cream sundae with chocolate or strawberry syrup. And for tonight’s activity was to watch a movie and had a little snack of lollies. Today was the last night we were spending at Camp, and many students said it was the best day so far.
Day 3: It was Friday and the last day for Camp. There were no activities for the day, so we packed to head home. But on the way back we headed to the Yarra Valley Chocolate Factory. And we did chocolate tasting and made giant chocolate lollipops that we got to decorate ourselves. During our break there, we had our prepared sandwiches the camp had made, which were just as good as the other meals. The chocolate factory also had farm animals, such as lots of goats, llamas and even a pig. After that we headed back to school. This year’s camp was so fun, and it wouldn’t have been possible without Elise, Steph, Jason, Jen and all the parent helpers: Ben W, Cameron J, Miranda B, Melissa R & Ben C that volunteered their time to make this camp happen.
