Junior School

In Prep we have been learning about directional language and interpreting simple maps.  The students have been singing songs to help them remember left, right, up down, behind, between, North, South, East and West. 

When we were learning about maps, we discussed that sometimes maps can be drawn from a 'bird's eye view' we practised drawing objects and furniture using a 'bird's eye view'. I was very impressed with the students' work when drawing our classroom from a 'bird's eye view'.

These concepts will be helpful as we embark upon our Inquiry learning related to the local community and community helpers.  We will be utilising Google Maps to locate places in our neighbourhood and where important members of our community work.
