Welcome to IPS

Monday 6th October saw the start of the final term for 2025.  The first assembly of the term hosted some very excited students from Foundation to Year 5 with the year 6 students and teachers attending the Canberra Camp for the week.  From the opening of the school gates at the start of the day, students could be seen smiling and laughing, eager to play, catch up with their friends and swap stories of their holiday adventures.  The staff and leadership team take great pleasure in listening to students' tales and watching them have fun reconnecting with their friends. It was equally lovely to chat to many parents on the yard this week and it makes me realise how grateful I am to be part of the marvellous IPS community!

Whilst the weather has still been a little chilly this week, especially in the mornings, it is important to remember that this is the time of year where the UV index climbs and hats must be worn outside during recess and lunchtime as well as during PE. NO HAT / NO PLAY is to safeguard students from the sun’s harmful rays and those without a hat will be directed to shady areas of the playground.

Year 6 Canberra Camp

We get regular updates from the year 6 teaching team, letting us know what exciting activities the year 6 students have been participating in whilst in Canberra.  Students have so far, had the chance to visit the Mt Ainslie lookout, the Royal Australian Mint, Old Parliament House and the Democracy Discovery Centre, the Australian Electoral Commission, The Australian War Memorial, and the Australian Institute of Sport.  Take a look at Mr Kent's snowboarding skills!

School Breakfast Clubs Program

Gallery Image

Our school breakfast club is having a soft launch this week. Class environment representatives will be stocking their rooms with a regular supply of healthy fresh fruit and veggies to snack on. Whether a child has forgotten their snack, needs a bit of help or just something extra to help them keep focused then this is available to them.

As an additional service through this scheme we are able to offer food bags to students and families experiencing difficulties.

Our Biennial School Fair – Building Community and Supporting Our School

Gallery Image

The Ivanhoe Primary School Fair is just around the corner! Our Biennial Fair is always a highlight on the school calendar—a wonderful way for families, friends, and neighbours to come together, enjoy a fun day out, and celebrate the vibrant spirit of our school community.

As well as being a fantastic community event, the Fair plays an important role in raising much-needed funds that directly support our students and school programs. Every stall, activity, and helping hand makes a real difference.

We encourage all parents, carers, and friends to get involved—whether by volunteering time, donating goods, or simply spreading the word. Together, we can make this year’s Fair another great success.

Remember, Our Fair can’t happen without the support of our amazing community.

Congratulations and well done William!

Finally

Term 4 is always a busy term, with special events such as; our School Fair,  International Day, Transition Days, Reports and finding out classes for next year!  To help us accurately prepare for 2026 in terms of class sizes and staffing, we need to know how many students we can expect to have.

We are now calling for notification only for those students who will NOT be returning to Ivanhoe Primary School for 2026. If this is applicable to your child, could you please email  the school office on ivanhoe.ps@education.vic.gov.au or let your child's teacher as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support.
