Social Media Age Restrictions Hub
The Australian Government, the eSafety Commissioner, is protecting young Australians at a critical stage of their development, through world-first social media age restrictions taking effect on 10 December. Find information in this hub to help you understand and prepare for the change.
It’s not a ban, it’s a delay to having accounts.
Age-restricted platforms won’t be allowed to let under-16s create or keep an account. That’s because being logged into an account increases the likelihood that they’ll be exposed to pressures and risks that can be hard to deal with. These come from social media platform design features that encourage them to spend more time on screens, while also serving up content that can harm their health and wellbeing.
More details about how the age restrictions will operate and other relevant information will be developed throughout 2025.

Today our Year 5 and 6 children participated in a Digital Thumb incursion where they learnt about ways to reduce their digital footprint online, as well as keep their data private.
On Monday 3rd October all students in Year 3 to Year 6 will participate in a Healthy Tech Habits incursion presented by Paris McNeil. More information about supporting your children to develop healthy tech habits can be found on Paris' website.
