WELLBEING

with Mrs. G

The Junior Stars (F-2) have been studying emotions (e.g. happy, sad, excited, frustrated, shy, embarrassed, and angry) through a variety of hands-on activities. They have enjoyed playing games where they were required to look at their partner’s body language to guess what they might be feeling. The Junior Stars have also been studying a little story book character named Grug. Grug is known for his positive, ‘Can-Do attitude’ and kind, friendly nature. The students delighted in creating their very own Grug to remember to be a kind friend. This week, the students extended their thinking of kindness- sorting actions into those they deemed kind and unkind.

The Senior Stars (3-6) have been busily working to finish their Emotions book on the iPads. These books included a photo of the students displaying a particular emotion. The students understand that different situations elicit different emotions and they have been asked to annotate these photos accordingly. I have been really pleased to observe all students cooperating well with their classmates.

All students have continued to look forward to our games and activities that promote connections between each other. This week, each class was challenged to participate in whole class and partner rhythm games. The games took a lot of concentration and focused on working together. All students loved the challenge and happily celebrated their successes with each other.
