Harmony Day – Thursday 21st March
On Thursday 21st March, Williamstown Primary will be celebrating Harmony Day, which forms part of Harmony Week. Harmony Week, which runs from the 18th to the 24th of March is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of c
ultural or linguistic background. It is a time to celebrate Australia’s multiculturalism.
To celebrate Harmony Week, we are inviting all students to wear a touch of orange on Tuesday, 21st March, as orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversation, and it also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. On Harmony Day, students across all year levels will be completing a fun activity at school to help celebrate cultural diversity.
Our students will be encouraged to wear a touch of orange that day to show their support for cultural diversity. It could be a hair ribbon/scrunchie or a wrist band. Perhaps, an orange piece of clothing like a t-shirt or socks. There is no need to go out and buy an orange item.
Thank you for helping to support and celebrate this event.
