Dear Families,
Parents Association Meeting
Last night I had the pleasure of presenting at the Parent’s Association March meeting.
Presenting on matters such as the school’s vision, leadership structure and key work for 2024 were core focuses and highlights of the presentation. A most enjoyable part of the night was also welcoming a range of questions on a broad range of topics.
After further discussing this with parents this morning, I will be looking to work in partnership with the executive members of the association to create a principal Q&A forum each term.
The aim of these sessions is to strengthen the home and school partnership, support parent/carer awareness of key work the school undertakes, and why we undertake it the way we do.
Each forum will have a theme allowing there to be a narrow focus of discussion. We look forward to providing further information about this new initiative.
Student Leadership Badge Presentation
This Friday 15th March at 2:45pm we will be hosting a special student leadership badge presentation.
The presentation will take place under the shade sail and will see all our JSC and House captains receive their 2024 leadership badges.
We invite all families to come along to this assembly to help celebrate and acknowledge our 2024 student leaders.
Reminder - Open Afternoon- Thursday 21st March
As mentioned in previous newsletters this year there will be a stronger focus on our open afternoons.
This term’s open afternoon, which will take place on Thursday 21st between 3:15-4:00pm, will give families the opportunity to venture into their child’s classroom where their child will be able to share and celebrate the work undertaken this term.
We believe this opportunity will help provide greater insight into the outstanding work our Willy kids do with alongside our passionate staff.
NAPLAN
This week our year 3 and 5 students commence NAPLAN.
During this time students can display some increased anxiety. To support students, our approach at Willy Primary is to ensure students are aware of all their great attributes that make them who they are. Many of these attributes cannot be measured in a NAPLAN test, so ensuring students view NAPLAN as just a small part of what they do at school is important.
Essentially at school we play it down looking to ensure that students aren’t stressed through the process.
Below is further information about the assessments undertaken and the school’s testing schedule during this time.
