Calrossy Pathways
At Calrossy, we endeavour to equip young men and women with the skills they need to make positive contribution to the world.
The Calrossy Pathways Certificate is issued to students who are leaving school to pursue full time work and or training. It is right and proper that we acknowledge the wide variety of pathways that our students pursue. Today, Pippa Moore received her Pathways Certificate, as she is continuing her studies fulltime in a Certificater III in Beauty Services with aspirations to open her own salon in the future.
SBAT
A School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeships known as SBATs allow students to commence an apprenticeship or complete training while at school.
Students involved in an apprenticeship work part-time and undertake the first stages of their formal on the job apprenticeship training while still at school. Students competing a traineeship work part-time and complete their formal or on the job traineeship training by the end of their HSC. Both these programs can contribute to a student’s HSC, providing they have complete both their on the job and off the job training program during their senior high school year. Students involved in an apprenticeship program can commence full time employment as a 2nd year apprentice from the January after their HSC.
Students involved in either program will be required to meet a minimum number of days while also completing a Certificate II or III in their chosen vocation. After successfully completing their SBAT students will receive a Certificate of Proficiency from the NSW Department of Education and Training.
Completing an SBAT is both rewarding and challenging as it requires student to balance the demands of school, work and their training program. The programs are a fantastic way for students to get authentic real-world experience within an industry of their choice.
Today we acknowledge 10 students who are currently completing an SBAT, in a presentation with their uniforms. They are Alli Morris, Camilla Teague, Charlie Hobson, Tom Croll, Thea Sheridan, Mia Aylett, Tom Sloan, Sinclair Harris, Audrey Lloyd and Caitlin Solomons-Craft.
