From the Head of Junior School

Term 1 Week 8

Our focus for the fortnight is Zest. Zest is having enthusiasm and energy towards life or situations. Zest can be an important motivator and can enhance our wellbeing. People with zest tend to be more engaging and are fun to be around. Our interactions with people who have a sense of zest tend to be deeper and the relationship is strengthened through the positive connections. Zest also helps us to break the negativity bias, where we can default to complain or find fault.

Zest is important for everyone, not just adults. At times we may think that the zest needs to be dialled down in some of our children, or we wish we could have some of their zest. But a healthy dose of zest can be hugely beneficial.

It’s a rainy day, why not embrace the rain and rug up, and jump in some puddles. Don’t just let the kids do it. do it yourself as an adult and watch the zest flow. “Whatever you do, do it well” Ecclesiastes 9:10

Staff News: After Easter we welcome a new staff member, Mrs Gabi McDonald, to Calrossy as a Prep Aide. Many of you may remember Gabi and her outstanding work she did partnering with our staff on the School Musical last year. Not only is Gabi talented musically, but she has extensive experience working in early childhood and will be a wonderful addition to the Prep team. We look forward to welcoming Mrs McDonald and introducing her to our Prep families.
