School Sport Australia - Girls 18U National Softball Championships
Congratulations to Piper Campbell who represented Victoria in the School Sports Australia Softball Championships.
While Victoria did not win on the day, the team competed with determination and resilience throughout the whole tournament, taking on some very strong State opposition and enduring very challenging weather conditions.
House Athletics 2026
House Athletics was a fantastic way to start the term, with amazing weather making for a great day outdoors. It was wonderful to see students enjoying time in the sun, catching up with friends, supporting their House and for many, participating in a wide range of events.
Congratulations to Chisholm for taking out the 2026 House Athletics title with a score of 450 points, followed by Hollows on 376 points. Kenny and Frost finished equal third with 340 points each.
A huge well done to all students who got involved and gave an event a go. Your participation, enthusiasm and House spirit helped make the day such a success.
State Swimming
Congratulations to William Wallace and Jack Woodward, who proudly represented Berwick College at the State Swimming Championships held at MSAC.
Jack achieved an outstanding 5th place in the Under 17 Breaststroke and an impressive 3rd place in the Under 17 Backstroke. Will swam brilliantly to finish 4th in the Under 14 Backstroke.
To qualify for, and compete at the state level, is an incredible achievement in itself and both students should be extremely proud of their efforts. Well done, Jack and Will, on representing Berwick College so proudly!
Year 7 Girls Volleyball
Congratulations to our Year 7 Girls Volleyball team on proudly representing Berwick College. The girls got off to a fantastic start, with the first two games coming comfortably. We knew, however, that as the day progressed, we would come up against stronger competition and unfortunately, after a challenging match, the team narrowly missed out on placing. The girls worked incredibly well together, showing great teamwork and determination, with some amazing serves throughout the day. They should be proud of their efforts and continue developing their volleyball skills as we look forward to seeing them compete again next year — bigger and better!
SMR Inter Girls Tennis
It was a perfect day for a hit of tennis at the Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre for the intermediate girls. The sun was shining and so were the girls’ tennis skills!
The team secured a convincing win against Dromana Secondary before facing a strong McKinnon Secondary side, who ultimately took the win. Throughout the day, the girls showed significant improvement in their skills since their encounter with McKinnon last year. Tayla, Isabelle, Lola, Alysha, Skye and Zarni - you were all fantastic representatives of Berwick College. Great job girls! Mrs Squires and Mr McCormick
Inter Girls Soccer
On 5 May, the Intermediate Girls Soccer Team proudly represented Berwick College with limited preparation but an outstanding amount of determination and team spirit. Despite having very little training together beforehand, the team performed exceptionally well, losing only two out of six matches throughout the day. As the competition progressed, the girls worked hard to identify one another’s strengths, support each other’s development, and build strong team cohesion. By the end of the day, they had formed a fantastic bond both on and off the field. A special mention goes to Tilly, Nika, and Grace for their leadership and support throughout the competition, particularly in helping teammates understand the rules and maintain confidence during games. Congratulations also to the entire team for their effort, sportsmanship, and several impressive wins across the day.
Inter Boys AFL
After weeks of gruelling tryouts and training sessions, the Boys Intermediate AFL team assembled for a big day out at J & P Cam Reserve, Cranbourne. As the fog lifted, Berwick College got warm and ready for what turned out to be a stellar performance.
After some kicking accuracy woes early in the first half, the boys managed to figure out how to kick it through the big sticks, dominating Timbarra, 13.12 (78) to 0.0 (0). Curtis Murphy, Connor McCormack and Lincoln Chadwick snagged two goals apiece, with singles from Luke Sheean, Jack Milnes, Chayce Simmons, Judd Tolliday and Riley Scott. Josh Slater set the defensive tone early with a critical tackle, an indication of his defensive prowess seen throughout the day. The team and coaching staff were appreciative of Molly Reimers who endured a quiet first half as Timbarra’s forward-end goal umpire.
Gleneagles took to the field with our now-warm team, with some tactical positional moves by Coach Tuck to deceive and distract. Not only did the ball move better, but Berwick College continued their growing accuracy, managing to kick Gleneagles out of the game early with a 12.7 first half, landing finally on 20.11 (131) and keeping Gleneagles scoreless. Ajay Hermanus got himself involved in the forward pocket, slotting two goals in the first half and one in the second. Chayce Simmons emerged in the second half, getting two himself. Zade Baxter deserves a mention for his consistency, coming away with a goal in each. All, however, were outshone by ANZAC Day Medallist Jack Allen, living up to his self-perpetuated hype and putting five goals on the board. Though, that “hype” could not match the reception that late-in Ryder Beaumont received for his goal late in the game.
With barely a 10-minute break in between, Berwick College met their most challenging opponent of the day in Hallam Secondary College, proving to be more skilful and physical than the previous adversaries. Hallam looked strong around the ball early, with our boys a little reserved. Both teams struggled to work the ball inside their scoring ends, with Berwick regressing to the accuracy of their first match, but the spell was broken by Josh Stockx, confidently kicking the first goal of the game. Hallam managed to finish the first half with a goal to match. As the match progressed, the game opened up, and Berwick’s skill was too great for the fading Hallam outfit. Ajay Hermanus got himself involved again with a goal, followed by Riley Scott and Daniel De Jager. Zade Baxter’s courage as a defensive mid is to be commended, laying a crucial tackle at the half-back flank against a much larger opponent. Zade was well supported by Lachie White and stalwart, Josh Slater to defend all offensive pushes. Archer De La Roche facilitated movement along the wing well to setup our forwards. Despite a slower-moving game, Berwick came out on top, winning 4.10 (34) to 1.1 (7). The boys were congratulated on their courage in some very physical contests and for holding out against a tough opponent, cementing their spot in the next round of the competition.
After a well-deserved break, Berwick took on Nossal High School, with a commanding victory of 13.10 (88) over Nossal’s 1.1 (7). The ball was shared around graciously, with 11 different goalscorers.
Berwick College was well-represented by our Intermediate AFL Boys Team, who were encouraging of one another, receptive to feedback from staff and humble in victory, making sure to thank and acknowledge all their opponents across the day. The preparation for and execution of the day could not have happened without the involvement of Travis Tuck, who was instrumental throughout the selection process and in taking on the role as Head Coach. Thank you also to Molly Reimers who made sure the team was equipped properly for the competition and supported on the day. We are looking forward to the next round in July!

Report written by Muaaz Khan
On the 14 May the senior interschool sports soccer team went to Casey Fields to represent Berwick College. In the first game against Gleneagles B, our team started strongly and quickly settled into the match. There were excellent passing and movement that helped create several scoring opportunities, while the defence stayed organised under pressure. Everyone worked as a team especially Nima, Lucas, Taha, Andre, Beau, all scoring goals providing the team with a 12-1 win.
The second game against Gleneagles A was a much more intense contest, with both teams fighting hard throughout the match as it was going to be the decider of who goes to regionals. Our team showed resilience and composure, continuing to pressure the opposition and work together even during difficult moments. Strong performances from Lucas, Nima, Taha, Carlos and Santi helped us win the game 5-2
In the final game against Nossal High school, the team finished the day in impressive fashion with one of our strongest performances overall. The attack moved the ball quickly, the midfield controlled possession well, and the defence remained solid throughout the game. Aaron finally got the goal he deserved with strong performances from Nima, Taha, Lucas and Santi helped us secure the win 7-1 also helping us secure a spot in regionals.
What a day for the team it was as we came away with three huge wins and showed great teamwork, effort, and determination throughout every game. The squad played with confidence from the beginning, creating plenty of chances in attack while staying solid defensively. There were some amazing goals scored, clutch defensive moments, and outstanding saves that helped secure the victories and help the team go through to regionals on the 30th of July. Thanks to Mr Nugent for leading the team with passion and dedication and helping us win!
Thank you the assistant Zak Kouris for cheering everyone on
Thank you to the team: Nima (C), Lucas (C), Beau, Taha, Aleks, Lachie, Riley, Muaaz, Santi, Andre, Aaron, Callum, Dylan, Carlos.
Inter Girls Netball
A huge congratulations to the Inter Girls! Both teams showed great competitiveness and teamwork, coming away with plenty of wins across their five games. The A Team narrowly went down to Hallam by just one goal in the final two minutes, while the B Team finished as pool winners with a strong performance and will now progress to Regionals.
Most importantly, the girls played competitively, had lots of fun, and maintained a positive attitude throughout the day.
Senior Girls Netball
Both teams in the Senior Girls Netball Competition started the day with a challenge – playing short due to players not attending the day. The girls played so well in all their games, trying new positions, running games out to the best of their ability and all with a smile. Hallam was the big challenge to all competitors – and they won the day. Berwick shuffled one of the B team up to give them a fighting chance. Alas, Berwick went down to the eventual winners, and they placed second. The B team finished the day playing with five, what a performance, and they came away with the win. The B team goes on to compete in the Region Championships next term. Congratulations, girls.
‘A’ team – Molly Allen, Olive Henry, Paige Thomas, Teale Utber, Taya Vincent, Macy Watt and ‘B’ Team – Anisha Ahmedi, Ella Hawker, Breanna Henderson, Mia Powell, Theanna Senarathna, Krystal-Lee Strickland
Division Cross Country
Berwick College had 52 students proudly represent the school at the Division Cross Country Championships held at Akoonah Park on 19 May. A light drizzle throughout the day provided the perfect cross-country conditions, making for a typically cold and wet event. Despite the weather, all students performed exceptionally well and should be proud of their efforts.
An outstanding 34 students qualified for the South Metro Region (SMR) Cross Country Championships.
We also had great team success, with our 12–13 Girls, 14 Girls, and 14 Boys all taking home the Team Flag for their age groups.
Several students achieved outstanding individual results, with multiple runners placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in their respective events.
We wish all students competing at the SMR Cross Country Championships in Hastings on 9 June the very best of luck. We look forward to hearing about your continued success!
Year 8 Boys Soccer
The Year 8 boys represented the school with pride at the recent interschool soccer competition, displaying outstanding determination, sportsmanship, and teamwork throughout the day. The team opened the tournament with an impressive 2–2 draw against Fountain Gate in a highly competitive and hard-fought contest. They then produced a strong performance against Doveton, securing a 4–2 victory to keep their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive. Heading into their final pool match against Lysterfield, the boys needed a draw or a win to book a place in the semi-finals. Despite creating numerous scoring opportunities and putting in a spirited effort, they were narrowly defeated 1–0, bringing their campaign to an unfortunate end.
A special mention goes to Joshua Davidson, who captained the side superbly throughout the day. Joshua also scored the goal of the day against Fountain Gate, finding the back of the net from nearly halfway in a remarkable display of skill and confidence. Although the team fell just short of a semi-final berth, they should be extremely proud of their efforts and the positive team culture they demonstrated throughout the competition.
Year 8 Boys AFL
Berwick played on a cold wet winters day in Casey Fields, their opponents were Timbarra.
Berwick arrived with a full squad and provided goal umpires and the Main Man in the Middle, Mr McCormick. A presentation of best and fairest went to Noah Lee who played two quarters with Timbarra as they were short numbers.
Our players put in a powerful performance with a finishing score of 150 to 32 defeat of Timbarra, some players who played well for Berwick include Julian Vinen, Lachie Marshall, Aston McCallum, Zack Smith, Gianni Grasso.
Inter Boys Netball
The Intermediate Boys went out today proving their athleticism.
Our ‘B’ team went on to win 3/5 games with 5 players on the court, showing that determination and teamwork goes a long way.
Our ‘A’ team went undefeated throughout the day having great wins against all teams played whilst showing the upmost sportsmanship to all players.
We wish our ‘A’ team all the best as they move to the next round.
Senior Boys Netball
Our fifth year together as a team began in grand style. Team manager Jacko Oldham had the boys ready to go, we talked tactics and went over the rules and chatted about NO bounce passes into the goal circle … oh well we tried. Our first match was against Nossal HS. The boys played with a lot of skill and enjoyment. Winning 37 – 8. Next was Gleneagles SC, another clinical performance saw the boys run out convincing winners 42 – 5. It was a fabulous day, good skills, willingness to try new positions and great entertainment for the family who came to support us … we thank you for this ongoing support.
Next step is the Region Champs next term. How far can we go??
Jye White, Hossain Mohammad (Farshad) FARSHAD, Henry Brown, Archie Hooper, Ben Lane, Hudson Freeman, Max Hayward, Xavier Ford, Elijah Kata
With Cooper McCallum and Jack Dawson to return to the fold for the next round.
