Science

Our Science students have continued to engage in a wide range of exciting learning experiences this term, combining hands-on practical activities with scientific investigations across a variety of year levels and subject areas.
Our Senior Environmental Science students have been developing their fieldwork skills through the use of quadrats. This hands-on activity introduced students to ecological sampling techniques and provided valuable experience collecting and recording scientific data in an outdoor setting.
Senior Biology students have been investigating the rate of photosynthesis using algal balls. Through practical investigations, students have explored factors that influence photosynthesis while developing their scientific inquiry and data collection skills. The activity allowed students to apply their understanding of photosynthesis while collecting and analysing experimental data.
Our Senior Chemistry students have been exploring electrolysis through practical investigations, developing their understanding of the relationship between electricity and chemical change.
In Year 7 Science, students have been exploring how living things are classified and how organisms interact within ecosystems. Meanwhile, Year 8 students have taken a hands-on approach to learning about body systems through the examination of sheep lungs and kidneys, providing an opportunity to observe anatomical structures firsthand and investigate how different systems function.
Across our Junior Physics program, students have been investigating forces, motion and electricity through practical activities including circuit building and balloon rocket challenges. These activities encouraged students to apply scientific concepts while developing their problem-solving skills.
It has been fantastic to see students actively engaging with Science through practical investigations, fieldwork and hands-on learning experiences. We look forward to sharing more of their achievements and discoveries throughout the remainder of the term.
