Year 10 Geography Fieldwork

Both Year 10 Geography classes recently participated in a fieldwork investigation during their double lesson, walking to Cardinia Creek Parkland to explore and evaluate the local environment.

Students observed and recorded a range of natural and human features throughout the parkland, including vegetation, waterways, walking paths, recreational facilities and surrounding land uses. They collected primary data through field sketches, photographs, and environmental quality assessments to develop their understanding of how people interact with and manage local environments.

The fieldwork provided students with a valuable opportunity to apply their classroom learning in a real-world setting while developing key geographical skills such as observation, data collection and analysis. The information gathered will form the basis of their upcoming fieldwork reports, where students will evaluate the environmental quality of the area and identify opportunities for future improvement.

We congratulate all students on their positive participation and excellent conduct throughout the excursion.

Year 10 Legal Studies Mock Courtroom

Year 10 Legal Studies students recently participated in an engaging mock courtroom re-enactment to consolidate their learning from the Criminal Law unit and reflect on their excursion to Dandenong Magistrates’ Court.

Taking on roles such as magistrates, prosecutors, defence lawyers, witnesses and accused persons, students worked through a realistic court case and experienced the legal process firsthand. The activity allowed students to apply their knowledge of criminal offences, legal procedures and the roles of key participants within the justice system.

Students embraced their roles enthusiastically, demonstrating impressive preparation, teamwork and critical thinking throughout the proceedings. Many students confidently presented arguments, examined witnesses and delivered persuasive submissions, bringing the courtroom to life.

The re-enactment provided an excellent opportunity to connect classroom learning with the real-world observations made during our visit to Dandenong Magistrates’ Court, helping students deepen their understanding of how Australia's criminal justice system operates in practice.
