Dance Academy

On the 27 May, all the BCDA students gathered to perform at the 2026 BCDA Assessment Night. There was a large mix of styles including Contemporary, Hip hop, Ballet and Jazz. The night was full of fun, quick changes and laughter with friends. Some standout performances included the mixed Hip Hop and Ballet troupe, the Year 7 Jazz, the Year 8 Jazz and the Mega Troupe.

Each dance showcased the students’ hard work and commitment, with polished technique and confident stage presence.

Parents, friends and teachers cheered from the audience as the dancers moved smoothly from one move to the next, ending the evening on a high note. Overall, the night was enjoyable and memorable for both the performers and the audience.

DanceStar State Final

When we went to state finals emotions were high. Personally, I was so excited because we had worked so hard to get where we were but for me it wasn’t about getting through but seeing how much as a team we had improved. On stage the vibes and feelings were high, and everyone had so much fun. Afterwards, when we found out we made it through, I will never forget the smiles and happiness that filled the room. The next step to nationals is going to be very exciting and a great opportunity!

Amelia Alderton – Year 9 Class Representative

Congratulations to soloists Millie Berwick, Mikayla Ballard, Sienna Doolin, Isabella Hawkins, Haven Smith and Elizabeth Lawrence for making it through to Nationals with their solo performances!

VET Dance visit to Berwick Primary School

Our Year 12 VET Dance Certificate III students recently had the opportunity to visit Berwick Primary School to deliver a dance workshop for their Year 6 students. This experience allowed our students to put their learning into practice by developing and leading engaging dance activities while building their confidence as emerging educators and performers.

The workshop was a wonderful example of our college values in action. Students demonstrated aspiration by stepping into leadership roles, fostered a sense of belonging by creating an inclusive and supportive environment, strengthened community connections through their work with local primary students and showed diligence and excellence in the preparation and delivery of their lessons.

It was fantastic to see our students positively representing the college and sharing their passion for dance with younger learners. We are incredibly proud of the professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment they displayed throughout the session and look forward to providing more opportunities for them to engage with and contribute to the wider community.
