End of Term 1 Wrap Up
Wow! Term 1 has flown by, and what an incredible start to the school year it has been! We’ve loved seeing our students settle into their learning, make new friends, and take on exciting challenges. It’s been a busy and rewarding term, and we’re so proud of all the hard work and enthusiasm shown by our students.
Year 5 - Taking Care of
our Wellbeing
One of the highlights of the last few weeks was working with Grade 5 students exploring community health initiatives in the Ascot Vale area. It was fantastic to hear about the different strategies students use to improve their overall wellbeing, from staying active and eating well to mindfulness and relaxation techniques. We also discussed where to go for support with both physical and mental health and the importance of looking after ourselves in all areas of life. We encourage families to continue these conversations at home and explore some of the local health and wellbeing resources available in our community.
Our Kindness Buckets
This week, our Grade 4 students engaged in a Positive Education activity focused on kindness and empathy. They each selected 10 kind actions they could do to "fill someone else’s bucket," inspired by the idea that kindness can uplift others and create a positive, supportive community.
Throughout the week, the students worked towards completing their chosen actions, helping each other, showing appreciation, and spreading kindness wherever they could. The activity also included personal reflection on how these small acts of kindness not only help others but also contribute to their own wellbeing and happiness.
We are so proud of our Grade 4 students for embracing the opportunity to make a difference and for their efforts to spread positivity in our school. Their contributions have certainly filled many buckets and are creating a lasting ripple effect of kindness throughout the school community!
Keep up the great work, Grade 4!
Keeping Active and Healthy Over the Holidays
While it’s important to rest, staying active and engaged over the break is just as important. Here are some fun ideas for the holidays:
Get Outside – Take a walk or bike ride along the beautiful Maribyrnong River Trail or explore local parks. Fresh air and movement do wonders for both body and mind!
Try a New Sport – Many local clubs offer holiday sports programs, from soccer to gymnastics. It’s a great way to stay fit and make new friends! (Find programs here)
Be Creative – Join an art, music, or drama workshop to let those creative juices flow. Moonee Valley Libraries often run fun holiday reading challenges too! (Check out library events here)
- Explore the Community – There are plenty of fantastic school holiday activities happening in the Ascot Vale area, including local markets, festivals, and kids’ events. (See what’s on)
