Today is a great day to be you!
On Monday April 28th, our School and Voice Captains attended the Shrine of Remembrance to participate in Legacy's 93rd ANZAC Commemoration for students. It was wonderful to see our four leaders take in the significance of the day and develop their understanding of the importance of the day. Our leaders laid a wreath on behalf of the school at the Eternal Flame and respectfully listened to a range of speeches and presentations, including from the Governor of Victoria, Margaret Gardner.
Our school acknowledged ANZAC Day on Thursday April 24th and it was great to hear from many students who were planning on attending dawn services.
We are straight back into our Wellbeing learning for term 2, with our classes focusing on Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness through TRP lessons, along with social and emotional wellbeing through the Respectful Relationships curriculum.
As always, we strongly encourage families at home to have meaningful conversations about these traits and our school values at home - around the dinner table each night is the perfect opportunity. Instead of asking 'how was school today?', using questions such as 'what were you grateful for today?', 'how did someone show kindness to you today?', 'did you use any mindfulness strategies to help you manage any tricky situations today?' - questions like this will hopefully elicit more complex responses then just 'fine'. Good luck!
We are seeking our school community's input into our next Working Bee. We are aiming to run a Term 2 Working Bee sometime over the coming month, but would love your support to boost our participants.
