Open Afternoon

The Department of Education has announced that Education Week will this year be from the 19th to 23rd May with the theme of Celebration of Cultures. We will be holding our Open Afternoon at Rangeview on Monday 19th May.

We will have classrooms open across the school from 2.45pm to 3.30pm for parents and carers to visit. This will include general classrooms and our specialist classrooms. We encourage you to attend to see some wonderful learning and activities in your child's classroom, then move to some specialist rooms to experience the fabulous learning happening in these programs. We will follow this with musical performances from 3.45pm to 4.45pm in the gym.

Prospective Foundation Families for 2026 can visit our Foundation classrooms from 4pm.

We hope to see you a Rangeview to experience a bit more about how we learn and grow!

District Cross Country

On Thursday 1st we had 51 students from Levels 2 - 6 compete at the District Cross Country. Rangeview again won the day and we were so proud of all of our wonderful runners! Congratulations to the 22 students who made Division.

A huge thank you to the teachers who attended to support our students and to all the parents and carers who came as well. Thank you to Mitch Clark and Meg Hubbard for making this day so successful for our students and for the other schools in attendance as well.

Child safety and wellbeing at Rangeview Primary School: information for families and the school community

Changes to the Child Safe Standards commenced on 1 July 2022 to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Rangeview Primary School has child safety policies and procedures to ensure it we meet the requirements of the standards. These are available to view on the school website.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact the school office.

Student Attitudes to School Survey AtoSS

The AtoSS is a voluntary student survey offered by the Department of Education every year to students in Levels 4 to 12 to help schools and the department understand students' experiences of school. We will ask your child about their thoughts and feelings about their school, their learning, relationships with other students, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. This year, the survey will be conducted at Rangeview from 12th May to 13th June.

The department will only use aggregated state-wide survey data to report on initiatives and this data may also be used in public discussions of issues about student engagement and wellbeing. An example of how survey data has been previously used includes reporting levels of student engagement in the Performance Summary in the Annual Report to the School Community. The department will not share any identifiable student data with any other party. Rangeview will only get reports about groups of students. Information about individual students and the student answers data file is not shared with schools. If there are low numbers of student answers to a question, the report will not show results for this question to protect the privacy of those students.

This survey is voluntary. If you do not want your child to do the survey, please opt out by emailing your school at rangeview.ps@education.vic.gov.au  before the survey starts on Monday 12th May. Student personal information will be shared with ORIMA Research to facilitate survey preparations prior to this opt out process. If you opt your child out of participating, then your school will ensure that your child is not provided with access to the survey. Student details will be deleted by ORIMA Research at the conclusion of the survey. If your school does not receive a “Refusal of Consent” email from you before the survey begins, we will assume that you agree for your child to take part in the 2025 Attitudes to School Survey. Please remember, as noted above, the survey is voluntary: even with your consent, your child can choose to skip questions or stop doing the survey at any time.

For more information about this survey, including the questions your child will be asked to answer, please visit the department’s survey information page. If you would like more information or have any concerns about the survey, please speak to your child’s teacher, or contact the department at school.surveys@education.vic.gov.au.

Mother's Day Stall

Mother’s Day is next weekend giving us a special opportunity to show our Mums, Grandmothers, Aunties, and other special women in our lives how much we love them and appreciate what they do for us.

The Parents and Friends Committee are running the annual Mother’s Day Stall with little gifts for the students to select for their Mum/Special Person. All Gifts are $5 so don’t forget to send money along with your child on the day. The stall is a lovely opportunity for the students to independently shop for Mum, it is always wonderful to see what items capture each student and what they think Mum will like. We are looking for a few helpers, across a couple of days.

We need helpers for:

7th May - Wednesday Night 7.30pm-9pm – to unbox/sort/wrap gifts.

9th May -  Friday 8.30am -11.30pm – Mother’s Day Stall

Please use this link if you can help on any of these days - https://volunteersignup.org/7JJJJ

Pick Up and Drop Off Times

We are aware that our school is surrounded by local resident housing and that pick up and drop off is at times difficult and crowded. The lack of a major street frontage is a strength of the school in many ways, as it creates a safe, clean learning and play environment for our students. We experience very little noise or air pollution.

Sadly, we have had reports from neighbours that Rangeview parents have parked across driveways, in driveways, and in one instance have become abusive and aggressive with local residents who are driving into their homes. This is very disappointing and not what we expect from our community.

Please be patient with each other and with local residents at pick up and drop off times and please obey the local parking and road rules. Working together we can ensure our school community is safe, and respectful.

The school we have is the one we build together.
