KLA Feature - English

We celebrate the work undertaken by students in their Term 1 English units.
Year 7 - Transition to High School English
Year 8 - The Power of Storytelling
Year 9 - Spoken Word Poetry
Year 10 - Rhetoric
Year 11 - Reading To Write
Year 12 - HSC Module A (Advanced & Standard)/ We Are Australian (Studies)
Highlights this term have included focusing on key English skills with Year 7, a West Words writing incursion with visiting authors for Year 8, and attendance by Year 12 Advanced students to a production of Shakespeare’s, ‘King Richard III’. Writing tasks have seen most students compose in a variety of imaginative forms to explore thoughtful and interesting ideas. Special mention and congratulations to the following students who participated in the CSDA Public Speaking Competition in late February/early March. All produced and delivered speeches that were insightful and thought provoking. They were admirably supported by Mr Nick Carozza (adjudicator) and Mrs Kerry Knight-Caetan in the competition rounds, and Mrs Cairns who attended the Grand Final to support our Year 9, 2nd place getter, Alyssa Darroch.
