March Madness has come and gone!!! March has been a busy month and was rounded out with Athletics Carnival that took place on Tuesday the 18th. It was a fantastic day with huge participation and great weather.

Athletics Carnival Review!!

We turned up the heat last week at our 2025 DVC Athletics Carnival! With a fantastic turn out the event was a huge success, both on and off the track. Thankyou to everyone that came along and made the day a heap of fun including the teachers for their support across the day, with special mention to those who worked on the track and field events all day in the sun and Jess Mikayla and Gene for the work imputing the results all day.

• Participation was at a peak both on the track, with 100m races coming down to the wire, some fast finishing 400’s and the relay teams tearing it up while in the field we had lines of students eager to participate, some record throws and epic jumping. 
• The day started with the 100m sprints (or 80m - if you know, you know!). Shout out to everyone that competed in some amazing races Officially, the fastest student at DVC in 2025 is Owen Burchfield. Also a special mention to Hannah Wilson for being so strong and brave after breaking her arm.
• We then had some tight contests and age-old battles in the 200, 400 and 800m dash, with students putting it all on the line for the glory. Other track highlights included Diasy White taking out the 16 girls 100, 200 and 400 in blistering time, Grace Robinson breaking the 800m and 1500m Girls 15 records (set by me in 1995!), Owen breaking the 400m and 800m records and Maggie Spriggs & Sienna Beddoe pretty much competing in everything in the 18-20 girls! 
• Out in the field highlights included the boys high jump – each event was loaded with talent and the whole crowd was involved cheering each and every jump! Congratulations to Adam Huybers on his outstanding jump of 162. The throwing events saw dominant performances from Ben Hodgeson, Alis Stocco, Abbey Gray and Liam Carrol. Liam also dominating the jumping events, while Sienna and Maggie competed in everything (and won!).
• Fashions on the Fields did not disappoint with the high stakes fashion of Barbie and Ken, the NBA superstars, the AFL superstars as well as many others! It was great to see everyone in their house colours, brightening up the track.

Interschool Sport Term 1

Congratulations to all of the students that have competed at interschools sports across Term 1. It was the Year 7 teams that finally got their chance to compete, with fantastic enthusiasm and team work in volleyball, baseball and tennis.

Well done to the Senior Boys Baseball Team that made it through to the Regional Grand Final, going down after a highly contested first innings. Such an outstanding team effort.

Also, congratulations to the Senior Girls Tennis team who, led by Jasmine Dabrowski, played their hearts out, improving across the day.
