Junior School Report

Brigette Gilmour

Junior Sub School

What a fantastic start to 2025 it has been! We have met and welcomed so many new students and their families to the DVC community, and have already begun to create some wonderful memories. We are a new sub-school and a new team this year - Claire Delaney Year 7 Level Leader, Sam Weavell  Year 8 Level Leader and Brigette Gilmour Junior Sub School Leader. If you have not had the chance to meet us yet, here is a little about us all!

Claire Delaney -  Year 7 Level Leader

Wow! What a whirlwind of a term. I'd like to introduce myself. I am Claire Delaney, the new year 7 coordinator. After many years at other schools, this is my first year at Diamond Valley College. I teach Mathematics and Science (Psychology), and I am committed to supporting students as they transition into high school. I enjoy walking my beautiful dog Digby and watching my children play sports on the weekend. I am looking forward to seeing the students grow and develop this year! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Sam Weavell - Year 8 Level Leader

“This year, I’m excited to continue working with this Year’s cohort at year 8, after getting to coordinate with them last year at year 7. As a teacher of Art and Visual Communication & Design, I’m always happy to talk about art and design, as well as the amazing work our students are always creating at school and within our community. Failing that, I’m equally happy to dream about Hawthorn’s premiership chances this year. I’m looking forward to supporting our students as they take on new challenges in the Junior Sub School. With a fantastic range of programs ahead, I’m eager to help Year 8s gear up for a great year of learning, growth, and engagement.”

Brigette Gilmour – Junior Sub School Leader

This year I have been given the privilege of being Sub School Leader for our new Junior Sub School - and what a ride it has been. We have had school camps, BBQs, whole school events, sporting events, highs, lows and everything in between! It has been a great start to the year, and we have lots of fun and engaging events moving into Term 2.

A little about me; I currently teach Food and Health, I am usually wearing fun colours or leopard print (on a great day both) and yes, shopping is a sport. I am lucky to be a mum to three kids and we are a family who loves music, dance and baking.

I look forward to continuing to get to know our Junior Sub School families and supporting your early years of secondary school.

On behalf of the Junior Sub School Team, we wish you a safe and enjoyable break! Come back refreshed and ready to set some new goals for Term 2.

Year 7 Camp

The best thing about camp was that we got to choose our cabins, and it was almost like a two-night sleepover with your friends.

The best thing about camp was the surfing because it was my first time surfing.

The best thing about camp was the giant swing because I did it and I got a 10min sleep in.

All the teachers were always so calm and nice to you.

The best thing on camp was surfing, the giant swing and flying fox. I found these the best because you were always constantly doing something, and they were really fun activities for me and my friends.
