Year 3/4 - Newsletter

Dear parents & guardians,
We have made it to the end of Term 1 and what a wonderful term it has been. Some of our highlights include: Swimming carnival, Neurodiversity and Harmony Week and Cross country.
Lots of energy and enthusiasm was abundant Tuesday morning for our annual ENPS Walkathon. What a great effort all of our students put into this event.
What's happened this week?
Inquiry – ‘I Belong and I Can Make a Difference’ This week students presented their volunteer project to their class. We were so impressed with each group's wonderful ideas and unique presentations. We had a great range of projects from implementing a school clean-up program, working with younger students and teaching them to read, collecting cans and donating, dog walking and helping our community with a range of environmental issues. We hope that from this unit, our students have developed the knowledge, skills and convictions to play an effective role in their communities, as they develop an understanding of active citizenship and volunteering.
Friday afternoon Electives – In term 2, the year 3/4’s will be involved in a Friday afternoon activity of ICT, craft or sporting activities. We are looking for some parents with experience in ICT, crafts or sports who would be willing to volunteer an hour of their time each week to support our students in these activities. Electives will be each Friday from 2:15-3:15pm for 5 weeks, beginning May 9th.
Please contact your child's classroom teacher if you can assist.
Fidget Tools
We understand some children’s learning and focus are supported by these and they have been a strategy recommended by a medical professional, and we support this. If this is the case for your child, can you please let your classroom teacher know. For our students that just like to have a fidget toy, if they are not supporting their focus and learning we will encourage them to use them at recess and lunch times. Please note, fidget tools should be small and non-distracting (slime is NOT allowed at school). Thank you for your understanding.
