Year 2 - Newsletter

Term 1 Week 10 Year 2 Newsletter

Dear Year 2 parents & guardians,

The quarter time siren is almost ready to sound! What a term. Here’s a recap on some things we have done in Year 2 in Term 1:

  • Settled into our classrooms with our new classmates and teachers
  • Set up routines and expectations
  • Reviewed some of Little Learners Stage 7
  • Explored the text ‘Sunday Skating’ and looked at characters, connections, using extended sentences and the conjunction ‘so’
  • Planned and wrote recounts
  • Explored patterns, numbers to 1000 and data in Maths
  • Went on an excursion to Bundoora Farm
  • Compared the ‘olden days’ to our life today in Inquiry
  • Wrote and received letters to grandparents or special people to find out about their lives when they were our age
  • Revisited the Zones of Regulation and discussed ways we can get help in Wellbeing
  • Year 2 platoons: throwing games, relays and kick ball
  • Had a ball at specialist classes
  • And probably a whole lot more!!

Don’t forget Friday is an early finish at 2:30pm. Assembly will take place at 2pm.

Term 2, Week 1:

  • Tuesday 22nd April is a Curriculum Day
  • Students commence Wednesday 23rd April
  • Friday 25th April is Anzac Day (making Week 1 a two day school week)

We hope your child has enjoyed term 1 of Year 2. We certainly have loved getting to know each and every child and working together to grow as learners. Thank you to all parents who have helped in any way this term - we appreciate you!

Enjoy the extra long school holidays. Stay safe.
