Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are now half way into Term 4 and we have lots and lots of great things happening in and around our College.
College Captains 2025
Last week we announced our 2025 College Captains. Congratulations to:
- Mary
- Mitchell
- Tahlia
- Zane
- Harriet
- Madison
We wish you all the best in your new roles and we cannot wait to see what 2025 has in store for you!
Thank you to all the applicants who were involved in the process of written applications, interviews, and whole school voting. All applicants are to be congratulated on their commitment to the process and to our College values.
Remembrance Day
Bairnsdale Secondary College commemorated Remembrance Day in front of Year 9 students. The ceremony was led by our 2025 College Captains. Staff and students paused to remember those men and women who have served and those who have fallen in all wars and peacekeeping operations.
RSL representative Mr David Lewien attended our ceremony and delivered the Ode and spoke of the meaning and significance of the Last Post.
Thank you to Mr David Lewien from the Bairnsdale RSL for attending and being part of our ceremony.
Also thank you to our student leaders who conducted our Remembrance Day ceremony and to the students who represented the 313 Bairnsdale Army Cadet Unit.
We will remember them. Lest we forget.
Senior Art Exhibition - tonight!
Tonight we celebrate our senior art students with the opening of the Senior Arts Exhibition. Everyone is invited. We encourage you to come along and celebrate our amazing students and their talents. The opening commences at 6.30 pm in the Malgobila building.
Year 11 Study Camp
Our 2025 Year 12 students have spent the last 3 days at Camp Coolamatong participating in a camp to prepare them for 2025. Students engaged in a variety of activities. Some were academically centred, others worked on team building and had a focus on health and well-being and of course having fun!
Activities included canoeing, a trip to The Grange, and raft building to name a few. The camp is an opportunity to build the team, bring students and staff together as a cohort to provide a solid foundation to support each other in 2025.
The feedback from camp has been overwhelmingly positive and lots was achieved. The students are set as they embark on their journey as Year 12 students in 2025.
Headstart
Headstart kicks off next week for our Year 11 students heading into Year 12 in 2025. Our other year levels will start the Headstart program on Monday 2nd December.
Please ensure that you and your student are aware that this is happening and what it means. Headstart is the process where students will roll into the next year level and their new classes. The process of moving year levels can be very exciting for some students and can also make others nervous. If you or your student have any questions or concerns about Headstart please contact the Hub staff to have a chat.
Sincerely,
Tony Roberts
