Principal's Message
How lovely it was to have the sun (mostly) shining last week! It has been wonderful to get some sunny days and to see how happy a bit of warm weather makes everyone feel. Throw in an extra day off for Cup Day and everyone is extra happy!
So many fabulous things have been happening over the past two weeks as we settle into Term Four. I especially loved UMatter Day on Friday 8th and to see our community continue to support this wonderful initiative from Mrs Upton in its fifth year, is truly remarkable.
Last week we also acknowledged the passing of a parent of our community. On Thursday, a number of our ENPS staff attended the celebration of life for John Dalinkiewicz, father to Audrey and uncle to Maeve in Foundation. Our love and thoughts are with Jacinta, Audrey and Olive, along with Hayley, David, Maeve and Mealla. Thank you to everyone in our community who have shown their love and support. We wrap our arms around them all at this difficult time.
Last Monday, our Year Six leaders, Harry, Zara and Coen, also led a wonderful service for Remembrance Day.
2025 Foundation Orientation
The 2025 Foundation students had their third orientation session last week and already it is evident how their confidence and independence has grown! We have one more orientation session remaining this Wednesday and they will certainly all be ready for the start of school in 2025!
McCulloch Street Crossing
We have a new permanent Crossing Guard on McCulloch Street! With Gordon now settling into his well-earned retirement, Moonee Valley City Council has officially appointed Gerard who stepped into the role this morning. We are thrilled to have Gerard on board, please join us in welcoming him as he keeps our kids safe crossing McCulloch Street.
2025 Planning
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, planning is well underway for 2025. In the past months we have been undertaking our recruitment process for our 2025 staffing. Once finalised in the coming weeks, we will confirm our staff list for next year and teaching placements.
Marcus Rosin Scholarship
In memory of Marcus Rosin (a former student of ENPS), our school is once again offering one student an Instrumental Music Scholarship in 2025. This scholarship is an annual award and entitles one student to a year of free instrumental music tuition. Nominations are open to all ENPS students. A panel comprising of representatives from the family, the school and the instrumental music program will select the successful recipient. Nominations forms can be collected at the office, through the Compass post or as attached in this newsletter. Nominations close this Friday 22nd November and the successful recipient will be announced at the final school assembly on Friday 20th December. Completed nomination forms can be submitted to the office or emailed to essendon.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au
We appreciate that a lot of information is now starting to come out to parents with information for both the end of 2024 and for the new year ahead. Please continue to regularly check Compass.
A reminder of our upcoming curriculum days on Monday 25th November and Friday 13th December.
Take care and have a lovely week!
