What is your favourite movie?
I have many! But the movie I could probably quote from start to finish is Hot Fuzz. I still laugh uncontrollably every time I watch it.
Do you have any pets?
I have two cats, Remy and Arlo, who I’m absolutely obsessed with. I also have pet sheep I raised during lockdown when I was at my family farm in NSW. Well I say pet sheep, but they live out in the paddock, but they still remember me and come for cuddles whenever I go home. They have just had their own babies this year, so I’m a Grandma!
Why did you want to work in education?
Before I was a teacher I worked in Museums. The work was a lot of sitting behind a desk and I wanted something more dynamic and hands on. My Mum was also a teacher for 40 years so you could say it's in my blood!
What are some ways that you take action?
During the Summer holidays when I go home to NSW my local church puts on a Christmas meal and gathers gifts for families in the local community. I enjoy coming home and pitching in for these events, connecting with my community who have given and supported me so much.
What are you most proud of?
Making it through hotel quarantine during 2021 with my partner. Two weeks in a small hotel room and we’re still together!
Not an achievement but something very cool, my wedding photos were printed in British Vogue!
What's something that will always make you smile?
When my mum sends me photos of our family dog Albie. He’s usually asleep inside somewhere he shouldn't be, like on my bed!
On a rainy day, I like to....
Curl up with popcorn and cup of tea and watch Harry Potter for the millionth time with my sister.
What do you value the most?
Time with my family. Living so far away from my family now I value every phone call or time we do get to spend together.
What do you enjoy most about your role at ENPS?
I love that I get to have fun everyday. I love making learning fun and interesting even when you think it can’t be. I get to come into work each day and be myself, have fun with my students, play with music and be creative in my classroom. It’s been so lovely getting to know my students so well this year and really connecting with them.
What inspires you?
My Dad. He lived his life with community and others at the forefront of everything he did. I try to bring positivity and laughter as he did to others through music, food, and networking as he would say, just sitting and having a chat over a cuppa. If I can be a fraction of who my father was then I will be very proud.
