School Captains' Report
Wominjeka everyone and welcome to our School Captains' report.
We hope everyone had a great rest on Tuesday 5th November due to the Melbourne Cup Day public holiday. We hope everyone has been back at school, ready to learn.
Our future Foundation students continue to participate in orientation, we know the kids have lots of fun during these sessions and will continue to have fun! We look forward to welcoming our 2025 Foundation students!
On Friday 8th November we celebrated UMatter Day. It was the 5th anniversary of this great event. We wore our green and gold to acknowledge those in our lives who matter to us, as well as the four UMatter winners, who were all coincidentally in Year Two, who were on an excursion that day. Also a big shout out to everyone that participated in the Math Olympiad and Science Talent Search, with the certificates being handed out at assembly. You may have heard myself, Saanvi, talking about how I participated in the University of Melbourne Micro Mathematician Math Workshop and the Mathematics Research and Statistics Competition. Within two weeks, I was able to submit a 22 page report - all based on coin flips! As School Captain and someone who loves maths, I would like to encourage everyone to take up similar opportunities, even for those that aren’t as confident in maths. These workshops allow students to think outside of the box and learn things that they otherwise wouldn’t learn in class. Whatever age or grade you’re in, don’t be afraid to try something new and meet new people!
We’re extremely glad to know that the Year Twos enjoyed their recent visit to the National Gallery of Victoria, and were able to take in all the new and exciting things around them. We are sure that it was an educational experience for all involved.
Our Year Ones also had an excursion to the CERES environmental park. We hope they had a great time and learnt lots!
We also had our Senior and Junior Hoop Time finals, with Saanvi part of the All Star Seniors team. Both teams did so well participating in REGIONALS basketball, going against schools from all across the region. No matter the results we hope everyone had a great time and tried their best.
Last Monday we had Remembrance Day. We commemorated our respects to the soldiers who fought in war. At 11:00, during the one minute of silence, we acknowledge, respect and think of those that lost their lives, or were injured battling during these times, because if not for their commitment, courage and resilience, we would never have the freedom we have today. Lest we forget.
Finally, we hope everyone enjoyed the past fortnight. The school holidays are just around the corner, and we know everyone deserves this well earned break. Be sure to stay happy, healthy and enjoy the sunshine and warm weather.
Your School Captains,
Harry and Saanvi
