大家好!

Welcome to Week Seven! 潘老师 and 王老师 have loved exploring new topics with you this term and are looking forward to finishing off the year with you all.

Foundation

In Foundation we have been linking with the central idea ‘People share stories in many ways’ and inquiring into the many ways that stories are shared in Chinese culture. Students have looked at folktales, songs and now dances. We are looking forward to practising these together and performing these at assembly in two weeks' time.

Year One and Two

In Year One and Two we have been linking to relationships and feelings, looking at emotions and creating our own Zones of Regulation Poster in language. Students have used their prior knowledge of colours to help categorise different emotions and have looked at how emotions in Chinese incorporate similar characters and meanings.

Year Three

In Year Three students have been linking Chinese cultural knowledge with their central idea ‘Celebrations and commemorations reflect culture’. Students have used their prior knowledge of numbers to create a 2025 Calendar on Google Slides and then have explored different cultural celebrations, inserting key dates into their calendars whilst learning about important Chinese celebrations and commemorations.

Year Four

In Year Four, students have been exploring a variety of creative hobbies, from painting and drawing to music and drama in Chinese. Students have been learning how to ask each other about their hobbies, helping them build communication skills and connect with their classmates on a deeper level. Through fun classroom activities and role-playing exercises, they practised asking questions like "What are your favourite hobbies?". This simple yet effective skill has not only enhanced their conversational abilities but also encouraged them to share their interests and learn more about their peers.

Year Five

In Year Five, students have been learning about different jobs and careers while practising their Chinese language skills. As part of their lessons, they explored vocabulary related to various professions, such as teacher, fire fighter, doctor, and nurse, and used this new knowledge to discuss their dream jobs. Students were encouraged to think about what kind of work they would love to do in the future and share their aspirations with the class.

Year Six

In Year Six students have finished up their Exhibition unit ‘Scientific knowledge is used in decision making’ and did an amazing job displaying their knowledge of traditional medicines of the world. We will now move towards creating personal profiles in language for graduation.
