Year 5/6 Leadership

Year 5/6 Leadership

The Year 5/6 student cohort met this week to discuss expectations and to give student voice/ opinion on what they felt was fair and appropriate.

It was amazing to listen to their views and impressive to see their level of respect for the school and its students. They shared the things they had to look forward to this term including Grade 6 camp, the Grade 5 leadership program, buddies with the foundation students, Grade 6 graduation, the Rockies, the colour run, the mini fair, the school disco and so much more!

They stated that they believed that RESPECT was paramount. Respectful behaviour and language, especially manners! They said that it was important that they also treated each other with respect. This would make school a great place to be and would make learning easy.

Being involved was declared as an important expectation for all. The students stated that they felt it was super important that they be involved in everything and give things a go, knowing that at times they may feel nervous, but would grow through challenging themselves with new and/ or different learning experiences.

They said that it was important to be role models for all students in actions and presentation. The students said that they felt proud when they looked nice in their school uniform, including hair tied back, appropriate earrings, and natural nails.

The word of the day was EMPATHY. Empathy means the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.

All students committed to the expectations and to being upstanders holding each other to account as well or talking to a teacher about any worries or concerns.
